你擺設筵席、倒要請那貧窮的、殘廢的、瘸腿的、瞎眼的、你就有福了．因為他們沒有甚麼可報答你．到義人復活的時候、你要得著報答。

But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."

宴会を催すときには、むしろ、貧しい人、体の不自由な人、足の不自由な人、目の見えない人を招きなさい。 そうすれば、その人たちはお返しができないから、あなたは幸いだ。正しい者たちが復活するとき、あなたは報われる。」(ルカによる福音書)

主は答えて言われた、「マルタよ、マルタよ、あなたは多くのことに心を配って思いわずらっている。しかし、無くてならぬものは多くはない。いや、一つだけである。マリヤはその良い方を選んだのだ。そしてそれは、彼女から取り去ってはならないものである」。(ルカによる福音書)

The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

イエスは答えられた、「第一のいましめはこれである、『イスラエルよ、聞け。主なるわたしたちの神は、ただひとりの主である。心をつくし、精神をつくし、思いをつくし、力をつくして、主なるあなたの神を愛せよ』。 第二はこれである、『自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ』。これより大事ないましめは、ほかにない」。(マルコによる福音書)

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.

また群衆が飼う者のない羊のように弱り果てて、倒れているのをごらんになって、彼らを深くあわれまれた。そして弟子たちに言われた、「収穫は多いが、働き人が少ない。だから、収穫の主に願って、その収穫のために働き人を送り出すようにしてもらいなさい」。 (マタイによる福音書)

你們看那天上的飛鳥、也不種、也不收、也不積蓄在倉裡、你們的天父尚且養活他．你們不比飛鳥貴重得多麼…你們要先求他的國、和他的義這些東西都要加給你們了。所以不要為明天憂慮．因為明天自有明天的憂慮．一天的難處一天當就彀了。

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?...But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will...... worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

空の鳥を見るがよい。まくことも、刈ることもせず、倉 に取りいれることもしない。それだのに、あなたがたの天の父は彼らを養っていて下さる。あなたがたは彼らよりも、はるかにすぐれた者ではない か。......まず神の国と神の義とを求めなさい。そうすれば、これらのものは、すべて添えて与えられるであろう。だから、あすのことを思いわずらう な。あすのことは、あす自身が思いわずらうであろう。一日の苦労は、その日一日だけで十分である。 (マタイによる福音書)

你們禱告的時候、不可像那假冒為善的人、愛站在會堂裡、和十字路口上禱告、故意叫人看見．我實在告訴你們、他們已經得了他們的賞賜。

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

また祈る時には、偽善者たちのようにするな。彼らは人に見せようとして、会堂や大通りのつじに立って祈ることを好む。よく言っておくが、彼らはその報いを受けてしまっている。（マタイによる福音書）

Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

自分の義を、見られるために人の前で行わないように、注意しなさい。もし、そうしないと、天にいますあなたがたの父から報いを受けることがないであろう。（マタイによる福音書）

莫想我來要廢掉律法和先知．我來不是要廢掉、乃是要成全。我實在告訴你們、就是到天地都廢去了、律法的一點一畫也不能廢去、都要成全。

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

わたしが律法や預言者を廃するためにきた、と思ってはならない。廃するためではなく、成就するためにきたのである。よく言っておく。天地が滅び行くまでは、律法の一点、一画もすたることはなく、ことごとく全うされるのである。(マタイによる福音書)

人點燈、不放在斗底下、是放在燈臺上、就照亮一家的人。你們的光也當這樣照在人前、叫他們看見你們的好行為、便將榮耀歸給你們在天上的父。

Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

また、ともし火をともして升の下に置く者はいない。燭台の上に置く。そうすれば、家の中のものすべてを照らすのである。そのように、あなたがたの光を人々の前に輝かしなさい。人々が、あなたがたの立派な行いを見て、あなたがたの天の父をあがめるようになるためである。」 (マタイによる福音書)

You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

あなたがたは、地の塩である。もし塩のききめがなくなったら、何によってその味が取りもどされようか。もはや、なんの役にも立たず、ただ外に捨てられて、人々にふみつけられるだけである。あなたがたは、世の光である。山の上にある町は隠れることができない。(マタイによる福音書)

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us."

すべてこれらのことが起ったのは、主が預言者によって言われたことの成就するためである。すなわち、「見よ、おとめがみごもって男の子を産むであろう。その名はインマヌエルと呼ばれるであろう」。これは、「神われらと共にいます」という意味である。
