After
Jacob returned from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed
him. God said to him, "Your name is Jacob, but you will no longer be
called Jacob; your name will be Israel." So he named him Israel. And God
said to him, "I am God Almighty ; be fruitful and increase in number. A
nation and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will
come from your body.
さてヤコブがパダンアラムから帰ってきた時、神は再び彼に現れて彼を祝福された。神は彼に言われた、「あなたの名はヤコブである。しかしあなたの名をもはやヤコブと呼んではならない。あなたの名をイスラエルとしなさい」。こうして彼をイスラエルと名づけられた。神はまた彼に言われた、／「わたしは全能の神である。あなたは生めよ、またふえよ。一つの国民、また多くの国民があなたから出て、／王たちがあなたの身から出るであろう。
