事情的終局、強如事情的起頭．存心忍耐的、勝過居心驕傲的。你不要心裡急躁惱怒、因為惱怒存在愚昧人的懷中。不要說、先前的日子強過如今的日子、是甚麼緣故呢．你這樣問、不是出於智慧。
The
end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better
than pride. Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides
in the lap of fools. Do not say, "Why were the old days better than
these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions
事の終りはその初めよりも良い。耐え忍ぶ心は、おごり高ぶる心にまさる。気をせきたてて怒るな。怒りは愚かな者の胸に宿るからである。
「昔が今よりもよかったのはなぜか」と言うな。あなたがこれを問うのは知恵から出るのではない。
