And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

また、御座から大きな声が叫ぶのを聞いた、「見よ、神の幕屋が人と共にあり、神が人と共に住み、人は神の民となり、神自ら人と共にいまして、人の目から涙を全くぬぐいとって下さる。もはや、死もなく、悲しみも、叫びも、痛みもない。先のものが、すでに過ぎ去ったからである」。(ヨハネの黙示録)

2 John約翰二書1:6-8

我們若照他的命令行、這就是愛。你們從起初所聽見當行的、就是這命令。因為世上有許多迷惑人的出來、他們不認耶穌基督是成了肉身來的．這就是那迷惑人、敵基督的。你們要小心、不要失去你們〔有古卷作我們〕所作的工、乃要得著滿足的賞賜。

this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love. Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist. Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully.

父の戒めどおりに歩くことが、すなわち、愛であり、あなたがたが初めから聞いてきたとおりに愛のうちを歩くことが、すなわち、戒めなのである。なぜなら、イエス・キリストが肉体をとってこられたことを告白しないで人を惑わす者が、多く世にはいってきたからである。そういう者は、惑わす者であり、反キリストである。よく注意して、わたしたちの働いて得た成果を失うことがなく、豊かな報いを受けられるようにしなさい。 (ヨハネの第二の手紙)

不要愛世界、和世界上的事。人若愛世界、愛父的心就不在他裡面了。因為凡世界上的事、就像肉體的情慾、眼目的情慾、並今生的驕傲、都不是從父來的、乃是從世界來的。這世界、和其上的情慾、都要過去．惟獨遵行　神旨意的、是永遠常存。

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For everything in the world--the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does--comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will of God lives forever.

世と世にあるものとを、愛してはいけない。もし、世を愛する者があれば、父の愛は彼のうちにない。すべて世にあるもの、すなわち、肉の欲、目の欲、持ち物の誇は、父から出たものではなく、世から出たものである。世と世の欲とは過ぎ去る。しかし、神の御旨を行う者は、永遠にながらえる。(ヨハネの第一の手紙)

主所應許的尚未成就、有人以為他是耽延．其實不是耽延、乃是寬容你們、不願有一人沉淪、乃願人人都悔改。但主的日子要像賊來到一樣．那日天必大有響聲廢去、有形質的都要被烈火銷化、地和其上的物都要燒盡了。

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

ある人々がおそいと思っているように、主は約束の実行をおそくしておられるのではない。ただ、ひとりも滅びることがなく、すべての者が悔改めに至ることを望み、あなたがたに対してながく忍耐しておられるのである。しかし、主の日は盗人のように襲って来る。その日には、天は大音響をたてて消え去り、天体は焼けてくずれ、地とその上に造り出されたものも、みな焼きつくされるであろう。(ペテロの第二の手紙)

主イエスは、御自分の持つ神の力によって、命と信心とにかかわるすべてのものを、わたしたちに与えてくださいました。それは、わたしたちを御自身の栄光と力ある業とで召し出してくださった方を認識させることによるのです。 この栄光と力ある業とによって、わたしたちは尊くすばらしい約束を与えられています。それは、あなたがたがこれらによって、情欲に染まったこの世の退廃を免れ、神の本性にあずからせていただくようになるためです。

We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first.

兄弟たちよ。気をつけなさい。あなたがたの中には、あるいは、不信仰な悪い心をいだいて、生ける神から離れ去る者があるかも知れない。あなたがたの中に、 罪の惑わしに陥って、心をかたくなにする者がないように、「きょう」といううちに、日々、互に励まし合いなさい。もし最初の確信を、最後までしっかりと持 ち続けるならば、わたしたちはキリストにあずかる者となるのである。(ヘブル人への手紙)

神のみまえと、生きている者と死んだ者とをさばくべきキリスト・イエスのみまえで、キリストの出現とその御国とを思い、おごそかに命じる。 御言を宣べ伝えなさい。時が良くても悪くても、それを励み、あくまでも寛容な心でよく教えて、責め、戒め、勧めなさい。

If a man cleanses himself from the latter, he will be an instrument for noble purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

もし人が卑しいものを取り去って自分をきよめるなら、彼は尊いきよめられた器となって、主 人に役立つものとなり、すべての良いわざに間に合うようになる。そこで、あなたは若い時の情欲を避けなさい。そして、きよい心をもって主を呼び求める人々 と共に、義と信仰と愛と平和とを追い求めなさい。

神はわたしたちを救い、聖なる招きをもって召して下さったのであるが、それは、わたしたちのわざによるのではなく、神ご自身の計画に基き、また、永遠の昔にキリスト・イエスにあってわたしたちに賜わっていた恵み、そして今や、わたしたちの救主キリスト・イエスの出現によって明らかにされた恵みによるのである。キリストは死を滅ぼし、福音によっていのちと不死とを明らかに示されたのである。

For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.

からだの訓練は少しは益するところがあるが、信心は、今のいのちと後の世のいのちとが約束されてあるので、万事に益となる。

Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come.

さて、兄弟たち、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストが来られることと、そのみもとにわたしたちが集められることについてお願いしたい。霊や言葉によって、あるいは、わたしたちから書き送られたという手紙によって、主の日は既に来てしまったかのように言う者がいても、すぐに動揺して分別を無くしたり、慌てふためいたりしないでほしい。

你們都是光明之子、都是白晝之子、我們不是屬黑夜的、也不是屬幽暗的．所以我們不要睡覺、像別人一樣、總要儆醒謹守。

You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.

あなたがたはみな光の子であり、昼の子なのである。わたしたちは、夜の者でもやみの者でもない。だから、ほかの人々のように眠っていないで、目をさまして慎んでいよう。

When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.

わたしたちのいのちなるキリストが現れる時には、あなたがたも、キリストと共に栄光のうちに現れるであろう。だから、地上の肢体、すなわち、不品行、汚れ、情欲、悪欲、また貪欲を殺してしまいなさい。貪欲は偶像礼拝にほかならない。これらのことのために、神の怒りが下るのである。

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

このように、あなたがたはキリストと共によみがえらされたのだから、上にあるものを求めなさい。そこではキリストが神の右に座しておられるのである。あなたがたは上にあるものを思うべきであって、地上のものに心を引かれてはならない。あなたがたはすでに死んだものであって、あなたがたのいのちは、キリストと共に神のうちに隠されているのである。

このように、あなたがたは主キリスト・イエスを受けいれたのだから、彼にあって歩きなさい。また、彼に根ざし、彼にあって建てられ、そして教えられたように、信仰が確立されて、あふれるばかり感謝しなさい。

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation

あなたがたは、以前は神から離れ、悪い行いによって心の中で神に敵対していました。しかし今や、神は御子の肉の体において、その死によってあなたがたと和解し、御自身の前に聖なる者、きずのない者、とがめるところのない者としてくださいました。

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

あなたがたは、主にあっていつも喜びなさい。繰り返して言うが、喜びなさい。あなたがたの寛容を、みんなの人に示しなさい。主は近い。何事も思い煩ってはならない。ただ、事ごとに、感謝をもって祈と願いとをささげ、あなたがたの求めるところを神に申し上げるがよい。そうすれば、人知ではとうてい測り知ることのできない神の平安が、あなたがたの心と思いとを、キリスト・イエスにあって守るであろう。

我還有末了的話、你們要靠著主、倚賴他的大能大力、作剛強的人。要穿戴　神所賜的全副軍裝、就能抵擋魔鬼的詭計。

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
最後に言う。主にあって、その偉大な力によって、強くなりなさい。悪魔の策略に対抗して立ちうるために、神の武具で身を固めなさい。

當用詩章、頌詞、靈歌、彼此對說、口唱心和的讚美主．凡事要奉我們主耶穌基督的名、常常感謝父　神。又當存敬畏基督的心、彼此順服。

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

"Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed--in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

不品行を避けなさい。人の犯すすべての罪は、からだの外にある。しかし不品行をする者は、自分のからだに対して罪を犯すのである。

人不可自欺．你們中間若有人、在這世界自以為有智慧、倒不如變作愚拙、好成為有智慧的。因這世界的智慧、在　神看是愚拙．如經上記著說、『主叫有智慧的中了自己的詭計。』又說、『主知道智慧人的意念是虛妄的。』

Do not deceive yourselves. If any one of you thinks he is wise by the standards of this age, he should become a "fool" so that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God's sight. As it is written: "He catches the wise in their craftiness"; and again, "The Lord knows that the thoughts of the wise are futile."

だれも自分を欺いてはな らない。もしあなたがたのうちに、自分がこの世の知者だと思う人がいるなら、その人は知者になるために愚かになるがよい。なぜなら、この世の知恵は、神の 前では愚かなものだからである。「神は、知者たちをその悪知恵によって捕える」と書いてあり、更にまた、「主は、知者たちの論議のむなしいことをご存じで ある」と書いてある。

Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you?

神卻揀選了世上愚拙的、叫有智慧的羞愧．又揀選了世上軟弱的、叫那強壯的羞愧．神也揀選了世上卑賤的、被人厭惡的、以及那無有的、為要廢掉那有的．使一切有血氣的、在　神面前一個也不能自誇。

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things--and the things that are not--to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.

それだのに神は、知者をはずかしめるために、この世の愚かな者を選び、強い者をはずかしめるために、この世の弱い者を選び、有力な者を無力な者にするため に、この世で身分の低い者や軽んじられている者、すなわち、無きに等しい者を、あえて選ばれたのである。それは、どんな人間でも、神のみまえに誇ることが ないためである。

因為十字架的道理、在那滅亡的人為愚拙．在我們得救的人卻為　神的大能…世人憑自己的智慧、既不認識　神、　神就樂意用人所當作愚拙的道理、拯救那些信的人．這就是　神的智慧了。

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God...For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

Romans羅馬書14:7-9

For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

すなわち、わたしたちのうち、だれひとり自分のために生きる者はなく、だれひとり自分 のために死ぬ者はない。わたしたちは、生きるのも主のために生き、死ぬのも主のために死ぬ。だから、生きるにしても死ぬにしても、わたしたちは主のものな のである。なぜなら、キリストは、死者と生者との主となるために、死んで生き返られたからである。

黑夜已深、白晝將近．我們就當脫去暗昧的行為、帶上光明的兵器。行事為人要端正、好像行在白晝．不可荒宴醉酒．不可好色邪蕩．不可爭競嫉妒。總要披戴主耶穌基督、不要為肉體安排、去放縱私慾。

The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

凡事都不可虧欠人、惟有彼此相愛、要常以為虧欠．因為愛人的就完全了律法。像那不可姦淫、不可殺人、不可偷盜、不可貪婪、或有別的誡命、都包在愛人如己這一句話之內了。

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself."

互に愛し合うことの外は、何人にも借りがあってはならない。人を愛する者は、律法を全うするのである。「姦淫するな、殺すな、盗むな、むさぼるな」など、そのほかに、どんな戒めがあっても、結局「自分を愛するようにあなたの隣り人を愛せよ」というこの言葉に帰する。

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

要彼此同心．不要志氣高大、倒要俯就卑微的人。〔人或作事〕不要自以為聰明。不要以惡報惡、眾人以為美的事、要留心去作。若是能行、總要盡力與眾人和睦。親愛的弟兄、不要自己伸冤、寧可讓步、聽憑主怒．〔或作讓人發怒〕因為經上記著、『主說、伸冤在我．我必報應。』

Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the Lord.

我憑著所賜我的恩、對你們各人說、不要看自己過於所當看的．要照著　神所分給各人信心的大小、看得合乎中道。正如我們一個身子上有好些肢體、肢體也不都是一樣的用處。我們這許多人、在基督裡成為一身、互相聯絡作肢體、也是如此。

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

所以弟兄們、我以　神的慈悲勸你們、將身體獻上、當作活祭、是聖潔的、是　神所喜悅的．你們如此事奉、乃是理所當然的。不要效法這個世界．只要心意更新而變化、叫你們察驗何為　神的善良、純全可喜悅的旨意。

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

兄弟たちよ。そういうわけで、神のあわれみによってあなたがたに勧める。あなたがたのからだを、神に喜ばれる、生きた、聖なる供え物としてささげなさい。 それが、あなたがたのなすべき霊的な礼拝である。あなたがたは、この世と妥協してはならない。むしろ、心を新たにすることによって、造りかえられ、何が神 の御旨であるか、何が善であって、神に喜ばれ、かつ全きことであるかを、わきまえ知るべきである。

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! "Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?" "Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?" For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.

for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.

すなわち、自分の口で、イエスは主であると告白し、自分の心で、神が死人の中からイエスをよみがえらせたと信じるなら、あなたは救われる。

如果　神的靈住在你們心裡、你們就不屬肉體、乃屬聖靈了．人若沒有基督的靈、就不是屬基督的。基督若在你們心裡、身體就因罪而死、心靈卻因義而活．

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

我真是苦阿、誰能救我脫離這取死的身體呢。感謝　神、靠著我們的主耶穌基督就能脫離了。這樣看來、我以內心順服　神的律．我肉體卻順服罪的律了。

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!

わたしは、なんというみじめな人間なのだろう。だれが、この死のからだから、わたしを救ってくれるだろうか。わたしたちの主イエス・キリストによって、神 は感謝すべきかな。このようにして、わたし自身は、心では神の律法に仕えているが、肉では罪の律法に仕えているのである。

Romans羅馬書5:1-4

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.

このように、わたしたちは、信仰によって義とされたのだから、わたしたちの主イエス・キリストにより、神に対して平和を得ている。わたしたちは、さらに彼 により、いま立っているこの恵みに信仰によって導き入れられ、そして、神の栄光にあずかる希望をもって喜んでいる。それだけではなく、患難をも喜んでい る。なぜなら、患難は忍耐を生み出し、忍耐は錬達を生み出し、錬達は希望を生み出すことを、知っているからである。

神設立耶穌作挽回祭、是憑著耶穌的血、藉著人的信、要顯明　神的義．因為他用忍耐的心、寬容人先時所犯的罪．好在今時顯明他的義、使人知道他自己為義、也稱信耶穌的人為義。

God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished--he did it to demonstrate his justice at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.

神はこのキリストを立てて、その血による、信仰をもって受くべきあがないの供え物とされた。それは神の義を示すためであった。すなわち、今までに犯された 罪を、神は忍耐をもって見のがしておられたが、それは、今の時に、神の義を示すためであった。こうして、神みずからが義となり、さらに、イエスを信じる者 を義とされるのである。

Romans羅馬書3:22-24

This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

それは、イエス・キリストを信じる信仰による神の義であって、すべて信じる人に与えられるものである。そこにはなんらの差別もない。 すなわち、すべての人は罪を犯したため、神の栄光を受けられなくなっており、彼らは、価なしに、神の恵みにより、キリスト・イエスによるあがないによって義とされるのである。

神的事情、人所能知道的、原顯明在人心裡．因為　神已經給他們顯明。自從造天地以來、　神的永能和神性是明明可知的、雖是眼不能見、但藉著所造之物、就可以曉得、叫人無可推諉．

since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

なぜなら、神について知りうる事がらは、彼らには明らかであり、神がそれを彼らに明らかにされたのである。神の見えない性質、すなわち、神の永遠 の力と神性とは、天地創造このかた、被造物において知られていて、明らかに認められるからである。したがって、彼らには弁解の余地がない。

Romans羅馬書1:16-17

I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."

But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God...While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.”

ペトロは、このほかにもいろいろ話をして、力強く証しをし、「邪悪なこの時代から救われなさい」と勧めていた。ペトロの言葉を受け入れた人々は洗礼を受け、その日に三千人ほどが仲間に加わった。彼らは、使徒の教え、相互の交わり、パンを裂くこと、祈ることに熱心であった。

John 約翰福音21:25

耶穌所行的事、還有許多、若是一一的都寫出來、我想所寫的書、就是世界也容不下了。

Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.

イエスのなさったことは、このほかにまだ数多くある。もしいちいち書きつけるならば、世界もその書かれた文書を収めきれないであろうと思う。

耶穌在門徒面前、另外行了許多神蹟、沒有記在這書上。但記這些事、要叫你們信耶穌是基督、是　神的兒子．並且叫你們信了他、就可以因他的名得生命。

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

イエスは、この書に書かれていないしるしを、ほかにも多く、弟子たちの前で行われた。しかし、これらのことを書いたのは、あなたがたがイエスは神の子キリストであると信じるためであり、また、そう信じて、イエスの名によって命を得るためである。

我將這些事告訴你們、是要叫你們在我裡面有平安。在世上你們有苦難．但你們可以放心、我已經勝了世界。

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

It was just before the Passover Feast. Jesus knew that the time had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he now showed them the full extent of his love...so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.

For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?

だれも、ふたりの主人に兼ね仕えることはできない。一方を憎んで他方を愛し、あるいは、一方に親しんで他方をうとんじるからである。あなたがたは、神と富とに兼ね仕えることはできない。 それだから、あなたがたに言っておく。何を食べようか、何を飲もうかと、自分の命のことで思いわずらい、何を着ようかと自分のからだのことで思いわずらうな。命は食物にまさり、からだは着物にまさるではないか。

You have kept your promise because you are righteous.
